Extractors

An extractor is an inseparable part of a clean kitchen. It will not only ensure the cleanliness and freshness of your kitchen, but will add to the style and design of your kitchen space. It is particularly important to have an extractor in an open-plan kitchen.

Extractors are divided into six categories based on their design:

1. Island – free-standing in the kitchen. For this extractor to work effectively it must be installed directly above the hob.
2. Corner – designed to be installed in a kitchen corner to allow for the most rational use of the kitchen space.
3. Modern – contemporary design and materials (toughened glass and high-quality steel).
4. Country – perfect for traditional kitchens with natural stone surfaces.
5. Dome – featuring a dome structure. This extractor is ideal for both classic and ultramodern kitchens.
6. Built-in – installed inside a cupboard on the wall, forming an unassuming, functional element of the kitchen and its design.

In selecting an extractor you should take two things into consideration:

1. The most important factor is productivity, i.e. the amount of air that passes through the extractor during one hour of operation.
2. Productivity = area of kitchen x height of ceiling x air exchange norm based on СЭС12 × minimum reserve ratio (1.3).

3. Another important factor is the noise level of the extractor. The following figures will provide an overview of the levels of some noises that will be familiar to you.

Whisper

Dishwasher

 45 dB

Speech at a distance of 1 metre

Loud speech

Scream/laugh

In purchasing an extractor you should also pay attention to the lowest noise level, which is equal to the lowest speed of its ventilator – this will be the most common speed at which you will operate it.
